Key Chapter Goals

  1. Foster an environment of Southern hospitality, a home away from home.
  2. Promote the tradition, passion and well-being of the University of Alabama.
  3. Provide a fun, close-knit, family environment for all those who share a love for the University of Alabama.
  4. Coordinate group activities and relationships among UA-Rocky Mountain Alumni to support the University.  We will accomplish this by increasing local Alumni active status to 15-25% and providing events for relationship building.
  5. Create opportunities for continued education.  We will seek to increase funding for our UA-Rocky Mountain Alumni Scholarship as well as provide continued learning for all local alumni and friends.

One of the focus areas of the Chapter is to advance the recently created scholarship fund for Rocky Mountain Area students interested in the University of Alabama; a companion focus will be to organize some Alumni interested in representing the University at some of the Career Days held by local high schools. By the way, one of our Chapter members, Wes Westbrook, was a major contributor to the University this past year (scholarship fund & other; and he continues to provide matching funds to new scholarship donations).

  • In 2001, Pierce and Debbie Norton have made a significant gift to the Chapter's Scholarship Fund that is being matched $ for $ by Pierce's employer, Enron Corp. "Our Chapter has recently recommended award of its first scholarship amount, about $1000 to a Colorado/New Mexico student now enrolled in Summer School at the University -- more details later.
  • For the past two years, Megan Rael has been our scholarship recipient, a student of Communication Information Sciences and a transfer from Colorado Christian College of Lakewood, CO.
