Chapter History...

Founded by Dennis O'Shea in 1980, the Denver Chapter of the University of Alabama Alumni Association now has 50 active event-attending members with about 500 grads in the Greater Denver Area and continually growing.

The Denver Chapter held its organizational meeting in July, 1980. Dennis O'Shea and Margi Condit were the originating leaders. Alumni football game viewing (single video, at the bar) was first at a restaurant on east Evans Ave known as Icabod's. During the years 1982-1984, the game viewing was at a popular Mexican restaurant and bar located in the NW Denver Heights area, known as the LaNeuevo Poblana. John King served as President for a two year period. It was about this time that the long-standing tradition developed of Mary Knight and Murray Smith hosting the Auburn game party (always the highlight of every season), featuring hearty stew and cornbread along with many southern delicacies. Beginning in 1985, the old Brooklyn's restaurant, near Mile High Stadium served as the game viewing venue. Dan Riley served the Chapter as President during the 1985-2001 period. In recent years other venues have been used, including J.D.'s Bait Shop, Pitcher's & Choppers.

Dennis O'Shea was a member of the 1954-1956 basketball teams, winning SEC championship in his Senior year

We encourage your active participation throughout the year and we invite you to join us on Saturdays this Fall to watch the Tide football team.
So bring your friends, relatives and other Tide fans along and be sure to include your support for the Crimson Tide. This season promises to be full of excitement as we join with other SEC groups to watch the Tide Roll.
